I’m Learning Softness
Published on November 3, 2011
I’m learning softness
from the length of my hair
to the socks on my feet.
I’m learning softness
by watching leaves fall
and catching pauses at the end of exhales.
I’m learning softness
as candle wax disappears
the oven timer goes off
the weather slowly grows cold.
I’m learning softness
by listening deeper
trusting wider
and letting go.
I’m learning softness
soaked in grape seed oil
and bergamot.
I’m learning softness
between the tales I tell
and the secrets I keep.
I’m learning softness
with a wedding ring
a baby stroller
and surprises waiting
on every street.
