New Moon Painting Practice
Published on February 4, 2019
For years now I’ve been a huge fan of the New Moon Calendar Journal, even though I very rarely share about it online.
As a working artist, I got to admit, it’s nice to have some things I create be solely for me. But today, after I finished my “new moon mandala” (as April the creator of the journal calls it) I had the itch to share it on Instagram and Facebook. I also made a short video about it too.
Ritual is a great way to welcome in more meaning and depth to your painting practice. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or time consuming either — it just needs to feel special to you.
Painting on the new moon helps me take the time to reflect upon my life for the past 28 days as well as open myself to possibility and guidance for the next 28. In other words — it helps me slow down and be more present and that itself is a great practice I can always use more of.
Here’s my quick little video for ya — happy painting!
