For as long as I can remember I've been OBSESSED with drawing and painting faces.
Everything I create ends up having a face on it and I started to wonder who am I as an artist, if I don't create faces.
So at the beginning of 2024 I set out to create a body of work that did NOT contain a face — and it was IMPOSSIBLE!
Constantly I found myself in an inner battle fighting the compulsion to include a face again and again.
That's when I realized that faces hold power. They arrive in our work to communicate to us, to show us parts of ourselves hidden, to say the things we can not say in words or actions alone.
Faces are mysterious and as an artist I am completely devoted to understanding what hold they have on me and the magic they have in store.

If yes, then I warmly invite you to join me for an intimate four day workshop in my personal studio in Peoria, Arizona.
Together we will spend four days completely immersed in the mystery of faces through creative exercises, soulful discussions, and time dedicated to painting faces from a place of true devotion, awe, and courage. Together we will unveil what these faces want us to see.
WHO IS MYSTERIOUS FACES FOR?
- You are an artist who is constantly drawn to faces. You could almost say they haunt you. Spending four days immersed in faces, faces, faces feel like a dream.
- You are an artist with a desire to strengthen your unique faces in an expressive, abstract and mysterious way. You are NOT looking to create more traditional, ultra-realistic portraits.
- You are an artist with at least one year of art making under your apron and feel comfortable making art independently as well as in community.
- You are an artist that LOOOVES drawing and/or painting faces, but you feel your faces are too stiff, boring, lifeless, trite, and/or childish. You know there is more — you can feel it — and you are ready to go there completely.
- You are an artist tired of making faces that look like everyone else's online and/or the teachers you have previously studied with. You are yearning to break free and elevate your unique style with faces and discover why you too can't stay away from them.

THIS IS A WORKSHOP - WE'RE GOING TO WORK IT BABY!
At Mysterious Faces we're going to make a LOT of art while engaging in creative exercises, soulful discussions, and instructional demos. I will share with you my own techniques and approach to making faces, but ultimately this workshop will be about strengthening your own personal style when it comes to creating faces and deepening your connection to the mystical part of your creative practice.
ALL SUPPLIES, LUNCHES, APRON, & DOGGIE KISSES INCLUDED.
For Mysterious Faces all you got to do is show up & bring your paintbrushes and a sketchbook! All supplies, lunches, and a "collectible" Mysterious Faces apron will be provided for you. Plus, my dog Rocket will be in-and-out to provide doggie kisses for anyone that's game.
FIELD TRIP TO THE PHOENIX ART MUSEUM!!!
On Wednesday afternoon, we’ll head out on a field trip to the Phoenix Art Museum! There, we’ll soak up inspiration and explore how artists across various genres and materials approach painting faces and figures. Afterward, we’ll wrap up the day with dinner at one of Connie's all-time favorite restaurants!
STUDIO IS EASY TO GET TO — LOADS OF NEARBY LODGING AVAILABLE
My private studio, where Mysterious Faces is held, is located in Peoira, Arizona which is a 30 minute drive northwest of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX) and a 5 minute drive from the P83 Sports Complex that has loads of hotels and restaurants available. The exact address of my studio and hotel recommendations will be sent to you upon registration.
