If you’re not a subscriber to my newsletter: PAINT If you’re not a subscriber to my newsletter: PAINT, then you probably have no idea that my family and I sold EVERYTHING we owned & moved to my husband’s home country of Costa Rica. I’ve been chronicling my adventure in my newsletter since last year.

It has been a dream of mine to live in beautiful Costa Rica ever since I first came here with Hansel over twenty five years ago. We’ve been here for almost two weeks now & I still can’t believe this is actually our home!

I feel so grateful, blessed & excited to now be living, painting, exploring, learning, & healing inside the moist, abundant heart of Mother Nature herself & look forward to sharing more here on Instagram as my journey unfolds.

2026 has been quite a year to navigate — not just with the big move, but I had a major surgery this year too that was life changing. Through all of it, I had zero mental bandwidth to share on Instagram, I but now I’m feeling the itch again — so we’ll see how things go. 😝

The first photo here is of my jungle studio that I am intentionally & with great care designing to support my whole mind, body and soul when I create. (I wrote about the details in today’s newsletter.)

As a family we have our own intentions & reasons for moving..but for me, I am very clear. My biggest intention for moving to Costa Rica is to go deeper into my painting practice than I can ever imagine. Even more than that, I am here to understand creativity at its truest essence.

Costa Rica is wild and untamed. Every inch of this blessed country is oozing with life and creative energy and I come here as a true devotee.

The second photo was from my morning walk with Rocket today. Somebody please pinch me! I feel like I’m in a dream — but I know it’s not, because all of my cells are sizzling!

¡Pura Vida! 🦋🌴🎨💚

I was dirt tired. I mean it. Dirt. Tired. But I I was dirt tired.
I mean it.
Dirt. Tired.
But I had to paint…she couldn’t wait.
She wouldn’t.

The days of waiting, planning, hoping are behind me now.
Heart open. Eyes up.
Solid in my conviction.
Fluid in my approach.

I’m in a bit of a reset right now actually…and the way I navigate slippery ending/beginnings in my life is always through my painting practice first.

I’ll be sharing my process in a free Painting Portal on Friday.

So if you’re feeling restless yourself — or even stuck in doing the same-ol-same-ol and ready for a change but not sure what’s you’re next move…Come join me for RESET. Let your paintbrush show you the way.

I’ve got a thing for painting in sketchbooks. Not I’ve got a thing for painting in sketchbooks. Not just “painting” — but dedicating each book to a specific intention. Sometimes it’s tied to a medium. Sometimes it’s a color I’m gaga over. Sometimes it’s a place or season in my life — a whole era, sealed between two covers.

This specific book is all about my raw emotion — feeling what I’m feeling & pouring it onto the page.

The rule I set for this book: Don’t cap the energy. Don’t tame it. Don’t make it “something.” Let the emotion lead. Let the painting be what it needs to be.

When I showed up here I felt like I was drowning in grief. So I drowned the page in water and color. The paper warped, creating a womb. I moved the pools of blue with my fingers, then grabbed a red pastel and dragged it hard across the surface until the paper ripped. The water rushed to the tears like blood filling wounds.

And that was it.

That was the painting.

Not a “background.” Not something to fix or decorate later. Just raw, unflinching expression. No apologies. No polish.
