I made this little sketch very intuitively last ni I made this little sketch very intuitively last night. I started by playing with watercolor fields & then slowly added line & shape until the figure emerged. What really got me is that whimsical floating figure inside the figure — do you see it? I haven’t drawn those types of forms since I was a teenager in high school & it just kinda appeared. It got me a little choked up even..like I was visited from a past friend - an old confidante. In my current 10 weeks Paint Wisdom Sessions that I’m teaching we’re exploring style & voice — this is exactly the kind of Paint Wisdom goodness I was talking about in our opening call last week — how old mark-making, forms, motifs, & even color palettes can re-emerge & talk to us. This is why I paint. This is why my art has been my one true devotion my entire life.
