Painting The Feminine :: Cycle Of Life & Death
Published on November 3, 2013
I’m not planning these journal entries in any way. I’ve been simply starting by scribbling some paint around and listening to where I should make my next mark–or where I should lay down my next shape.
Then, from there, the painting starts to talk to me.
This painting felt even more like listening to a story.
On the bottom left lays a woman in a purple shroud. On the right is a woman pregnant with life.
When I was drawing all those little circles, it kept coming to me that they represented the eggs that we as women possess and which cycle through our bodies each month.
Like I said, I didn’t plan this painting in any way–but what I love the most is how it reflects back to me so perfectly what is happening in my own life.
Wild stuff!
