Don’t Put Down Your Brush

This is my paint sketch from last night.

As I created it I kept thinking of mercy and how one word can shift and change everything.

How if each “detention center” was instead a “refugee camp”. Wouldn’t it take up the same amount of tax payers money? Wouldn’t it fill the same amount of political space — there would still be problems to face and systems to fix and laws to examine. 

Every material thing on the outside would still hold the same weight, except the energy behind it would flip from hate to mercy.

Under A Full Moon

Tomorrow is a Strawberry Full Moon and according to Native American legend, this Full Moon represents a time for spiritual cleansing.

For me the Strawberry Moon has always been quite powerful. In 2010, under a Strawberry Moon, I quit my full time teaching job to pour my whole self into Dirty Footprints Studio.

Let’s Get Loosey Goosey

One of the main intentions behind my current Oil & Water workshop in 21 SECRETS Just Add Water is to help artists get loosey goosey when it comes to creating.

Think about it…tensing up, worrying about getting it right, pretty, or perfect eats up sooo much damn energy.

Creativity needs an open channel. An easy way to clear the pipes is by simply inviting play into our practice.
